I have been a huge Elvis fan since I was about 18 years old. To say I have been a fan of his movies would be anything but the truth, however.
One of his movies I did enjoy was ‘Kid Galahad’. Elvis’ character Walter Gulick is fresh out of the service, and finds work as a sparring partner for a gym owner named Willy in upstate New York. Willy hopes that Walter can make him a lot of money as a professional boxer to pay off his gambling debts, and signs him to a contract.
The movie was light hearted and full of plenty of music, and of course Elvis has a love interest in Willy’s sister Rose.
The movie would never win any academy awards, but it was fun and also showed Elvis as a pretty capable boxer. It combined both of my interests, boxing and Elvis, and remains one of my favorite pictures to this day.
