George Foreman’s 2nd Comeback Fight

After his initial return to the ring in March against Steve Zouski, George Foreman trained for four more months, and fought again in July. He stayed in the bay area of northern California, choosing to fight at the Oakland Coliseum. George had spent his time in the job corps in the 1960’s in this area, and they billed it as a ‘Welcome Home Champ’ kind of event.

The ex champ lost another 18 pounds for this bout, weighing in at 249 lbs., and stopped his opponent Charlie Hostetter rather easily at 2:01 of the third round. He had his second victory under his belt, and was gaining fans along the way.

George fought again two months later in Springfield, Missouri, stopping Bobby Crabtree in the sixth round. He planned on fighting as often as possible until it landed him at shot at the title, and ignoring the scores of critics along the way. No one ever succeeds in life listening to critics, who often talk a lot, and have never accomplished anything themselves.
