This is my List of the Top 5 Fighters of the 1950’s.
- Rocky Marciano. Heavyweight champion from 1952-1956 who retired undefeated at 49-0 and is the only one to do so.
- Archie Moore. The greatest light heavyweight champion in history from December of 1952 until May of 1962, the longest reign ever.
- Sugar Ray Robinson. Regarded as the best fighter ever ‘Pound for Pound’, won and lost the middleweight title 5 times during the decade of the 1950’s.
- Floyd Patterson. Replaced Rocky Marciano as the heavyweight champ after his retirement and held the title until 1959, then won it back again.
- Gene Fullmer. Defeated the great Sugar Ray Robinson to capture the middleweight crown, and after losing the rematch, fought him twice more, winning once and being held to a draw in the other.
