This is My List of My Top Favorite Boxers
- Sugar Ray Robinson. The moniker ‘Pound for Pound’ was penned after the greatest boxer to ever live. The welterweight and 5 time middleweight champion fought all comers, and is in my opinion the greatest boxer to ever live.
- Sugar Ray Leonard. The ‘Fighter of the 1980’s’, Ray Leonard was a multi-division champion, who despite an eye injury that interrupted his career, is an all-time great. His wins over Wilfred Benitez, Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler make him my second favorite boxer of all time.
- Pernell Whitaker. ‘Sweet Pea’ was a 1984 gold medalist, and a world champion in 4 different weight classes. His slick boxing ability and elusiveness in the ring make him my third favorite boxer of all time.
- Wilfred Benitez. Wilfred won the junior welterweight championship at just 17 years old in 1976, and went on to be a three division world champion. His smooth boxing skills and toughness make him my fourth favorite boxer ever.
- Larry Holmes. The ‘Easton Assassin’ as he was nicknamed, held the heavyweight title for an amazing 7 and 1/2 years from 1978 until 1985, and recorded 20 successful title defenses. While a solid puncher as well, Larry’s great left jab and ring generalship put him at number five on my all time favorite boxer list.
