Roy Jones Jr. Part 7

After the ridiculous fight with Richard Frazier in January, Roy returned in June to take on a real fighter in Reggie Johnson. It turned out to be a boring, one-sided affair, with Roy winning all twelve rounds. If it had been on pay-per-view and not HBO, I would have wanted my money back.

Seven months later, Jones traveled to Radio City Music Hall in New York City to take on David Telesco. Another twelve round whitewash, with Roy winning every single round again. His fights were becoming boring, and at light heavyweight, he didn’t clobber people anymore. I found myself changing channels during his bouts, since they were almost all the same, no matter the opponent.

Four months later, almost the same thing. This time Richard Hall was the victim in Indianapolis, although Roy did manage to stop him in eleven. It wasn’t Roy’s fault he was so much better than everyone else I guess. It just didn’t make for exciting fights.

In September, Jones traveled to New Orleans to stop Eric Harding in ten. Four months later, in February of 2001, Derrick Harmon was also stopped in ten. I was so bored watching these fights, I found myself falling asleep in my recliner. The sad thing was, there was absolutely no one on the horizon to challenge him.
