The Bite and the Aftermath

After the sickening display in the ring against Evander Holyfield, Tyson made no apologies for his actions, instead saying they were justified because Evander had head butted him on purpose. It was typical for the pathetic excuse of a fighter, and his sidekick buffoon managers echoed his excuses.

Evander on the other hand was dignified and collected in his interview, conducted just before his trip to the hospital to have his right ear surgically repaired. He said Tyson knew he was going to lose again, so he took the coward’s route, and bit him to get disqualified. That way he could say he really didn’t lose. The whole affair left me kind of dizzy, filled with disbelief that any fighter could act so irrational and insane. I also realized it was Tyson, who to me was a total idiot.

On July 9th, 1997 The Las Vegas Athletic Commission fined Tyson $3 million and revoked his license for a year. I for one hoped he’d never fight again, but at least he’d be gone for a year. I’d enjoy the respite while it lasted.
