My Top 5 Vegas Fights

This is My List of My Top 5 Vegas Fights

  1. Marvin Hagler vs. Sugar Ray Leonard. April 6, 1987. Caesar’s Palace; Las Vegas, Nevada. Sugar Ray shocks the world by winning a split decision over Marvin Hagler, after having fought just once in five years.
  2. Larry Holmes vs. Gerry Cooney. June 11, 1982. Caesar’s Palace; Las Vegas, Nevada. Larry Holmes outclasses the over-hyped Gerry Cooney, and stops him 13 rounds, proving his greatness as the reigning heavyweight champion of the world.
  3. Evander Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson. November 9, 1996. MGM Grand; Las Vegas, Nevada. I was at the fight in person to see Evander Holyfield, who opened as a 25-1 underdog in September, stop Mike Tyson in the 11th round. My favorite live sporting event I ever attended in my entire life.
  4. Riddick Bowe vs. Jorge Luis Gonzalez. June 17, 1995. MGM Grand; Las Vegas, Nevada. Riddick Bowe knocks out the amateurish Gonzalez in 6 rounds, which I predicted to a tee. The $10,000 I won betting on the fights makes it all the more memorable as well.
  5. Evander Holyfield vs. George Foreman. April 19, 1991. Atlantic City Convention Hall; Atlantic City, New Jersey. ‘The Battle of the Ages’ turns out to be a one sided fight, but by lasting the full 12 round distance, George earns the respect of the public and proves he belonged in the ring that Friday night in April of 1991.
